“Amy Sherald: American Sublime”

Atlanta’s High Museum of Art will be the last stop on the national tour for “Amy Sherald: American Sublime” (May 15-Sept. 27, 2026), the acclaimed mid-career retrospective for the Georgia native, born in Columbus, GA, and the largest exhibition of her work to date. Featuring more than 35 paintings made from 2007 to 2024, the presentation will include many of Sherald’s most iconic works, along with rarely seen paintings spanning her career.
Sherald has deep ties to Atlanta and to the High. She trained as a painter from Clarke Atlanta University. And now the final stop of her national American Sublime exhibition is now at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta.
I’ve tried to title the works below, apologies to the ones I‘ve missed.
