The Stand in Marietta
This is like the sixth watercolor I’ve done of this historic theatre, but my previous versions were 9″x12″ or smaller. This is on a large sheet of watercolor paper and feels like a proper artwork.

THE QUINLAN 47th GALA
After I graduated in 1984, my first studio space to paint in was in the basement of the Quinlan Visual Arts Center. So every year I try to have some of my artwork to offer in their Gala fundraiser. This year I have two 30″x 30″ mixed media pieces: “Ambitious Nature” and “Lavender”.
THE QUINLAN 47th GALA is the Quinlan’s PRIMARY and SIGNATURE fundraiser and the most anticipated cultural event in the area. Like last year, Quinlan GALA is going hybrid! This means, we will offer virtual AND live participation. In 2021, the pandemic forced a virtual GALA. This proved to be an opportunity to reach a larger and geographically diverse audience. Our silent auction will now be offered in-person and virtually, while our live auction will be held in-house (for ticket holders only). Technology allows smaller arts institutions, such as the Quinlan, an equalizing factor against the larger, better-funded ones. Physical space is no longer a limitation. ALL ARTWORK will be on display at the Quinlan for GALA even though the Silent Auction is virtual.
