Holiday in the Sun

Had some delays getting back into painting recently but finally have a new painting completed. This painting has a seasonal concept of people indulging in warm weather activities. Its also an interesting contrast of the bright blues and the bright orange that intersects into the composition. I felt inspired from other artists like Fairfield Porter and David Hockney, taking the common every day objects and elevating them in a different context. I made a slight variation in the title, which comes from a song about enjoying one’s self at the expense of others. This painting isn’t specifically about that but its not against that notion either.
